DOT Compliance
HMS is committed to keeping companies in compliance with the Drug Free Workplace Act (PL 100-690) and the specific Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Part 382.
The Department of Transportation Regulation 382-603 requires employers to ensure that any person designated to supervise drivers must receive 60 minutes of training on alcohol abuse and 60 minutes of training on controlled substance abuse. HMS has extensive training experience in helping companies maintain compliance with the Drug Free Workplace Act (PL 100-690) and the specific Department of Transportation (DOT) training regulations, Part 382.
SAP Services
HMS has a network of qualified Substance Abuse Professionals who are fully informed about 49 CFR, Part 40.
DOT Regulations 382-605 states that any driver who engages in alcohol use or drug abuse shall be evaluated by a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). A Substance Abuse Professional is defined as a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing and aftercare.
When a timely response from the right individual or treatment program is not available, problems often become serious or stay serious. HMS counselors are trained to accurately identify the source of an individual's problem and, as quickly as possible, find a practical solution. While HMS encourages all individuals to meet face to face with counselors, HMS does provide consultations over the telephone. Our mandate is to ensure that employees have access to counseling when they need it, no matter the location.
